Anxiety Help - Feeling During Anxiety & Panic Attacks

Feeling During Anxiety & Panic Attacks

Why does this happen during anxiety and panic attacks? Does anyone ever get a weird creepy-crawly tingly feeling all over the skin when they have a panic attack?

It's a reaction to the adrenaline and norepinehrine released by your brain during anxiety and panic attacks.

You can make anxiety attacks go away fairly quickly by doing some quick, active exercise, like 20 fast sit-ups or jogging around the block when you are having an anxiety and panic attack.

Anxiety Help - s Anxiety Normal for Healthcare Student?

Is Anxiety Normal for Healthcare Student?

I am currently a student in the healthcare industry and will be (along with doctors and others) responsible for the well being of many critical care patients in a hospital setting when I graduate. I chose this field because I love to help people and felt that I was wasting my love of science and problem solving on office jobs. Of course, as most health industry jobs, the pay is very good for the amount of schooling required and this contributed to my decision as well.

Do any other healthcare students have these fears and anxiety?

Everyone who's a decent person is going to have fears and anxiety like that. You'll have people you'll help treat and maybe it won't be perfect each time, but that's what the follow up is for.

Anxiety Help - Help for Dog's Separation Anxiety

Help for Dog's Separation Anxiety

Chamomile tea works very well for separation Anxiety, and is safe for him. Dump it out of the teabag, and use 1 teaspoon for small breed. Mix it in a *little* canned food, such as Mighty Dog, or Cesar's, and give about 30 minutes before he needs to relax.

As he learns to cope, and to trust that you are coming back, he won't need the tea. My vet recommended this to me many years ago and it really works for my dog's separation anxiety.

Anxiety Disorder or Normal Feelings

How do you determine if you have regular anxieties of everyday life or anxiety disorder?

If your anxiety causes you to panic or stands in the way of you living your life in the way you'd like to for a significant period of time, it is probably anxiety disorder rather than the anxieties that everyone experiences from time to time.

Luckily, problems with anxiety are one of the simplest mental issues to resolve in a relatively short period of time.

Separation Anxiety Torments Children and Their Parents

Five-year old Jessica seemed relatively calm about her first day in kindergarten and her parents had no reason to suspect that separation anxiety would be a problem. She smiled sweetly as her father snapped her picture while she was getting into the car in her shiny new shoes with her hair in pigtails and a pink Dora the Explorer backpack in her arms.

A few minutes later the same little girl was standing at the door to her new classroom, crying hysterically, screaming, clutching the hem of her mother's skirt and begging not to be left alone in her new surroundings.

Not wanting to go to school can occur anytime but it is most common in children 5-7 and 11-14, times when children are dealing with the new challenges of elementary school and middle school.

Anxiety Help - Anxiety and Depression More Common?

Anxiety and Depression More Common?

Why are anxiety and depression so common these days? Is it just that we have found new terms for and legitimized diagnoses of things which previously would have been quietly written off as 'nerves'?

I think the reason anxiety and depression are more common is three fold.

First, life is more hectic and faster paced. This pace of life distances us from each other. Humans are social creatures. We need social interaction, to feel needed and to feel loved. This becomes harder the more we try to cram into our lives.

Are These Anxiety Symptoms?

Do you know if missed heartbeats are anxiety symptoms? Is that normal when you have anxiety disorder?

Yes, those are anxiety symptoms you described.

But anxiety disorder is a whole other movie; much more intense and longer lasting. It is a result of the 'flight or fight' mechanism all humans have, and when it kicks in, so does a huge increase in adrenaline.

Anxiety Help - What is Anxiety Disorder Like?

What is Anxiety Disorder Like?

My boyfriend has anxiety disorder and I really want to know what it’s like for people with it. Please describe how some of you feel, so maybe I can understand better what he is going through?

I know it must be hard for you as my husband has a hard time dealing with me sometimes. Anxiety disorder is one of those things that's hard to understand even when you have the disorder yourself. I have had anxiety attacks and such since I was a very young girl. I'm going to try to explain this the best way I know how from personal experiences.

I have irrational fears, like when I go in a gas station, I fear that somebody might come in and rob the store and shoot us all, or if I am out by myself, that somebody might kidnap and/or rape me. When I was little, I used to have to pack a suitcase every night and put it by the door in case the house burned down. Anxiety disorder causes my mind to go so fast around these thoughts I can't think of anything else. My stomach hurts, my blood pressure rises, and I often can't breathe and start crying, especially when I have bad ones.

Anxiety & Depression More Prevalent Now

Are anxiety, depression and general mood disorders more prevalent now than ever before?

I believe anxiety and depression issues have existed forever but today they are either abused, doctors just throw around the label to give someone something to hang on to, or people self diagnose and give themselves the label of being depressed, anxious, etc.

We all have the capacity to get down now and again but that doesn't mean that we should carry about the label of being depressed.

Anxiety Attack Symptoms - Don't Miss Them!

"I was sitting at a traffic light the first time anxiety attack symptoms came over me. All of a sudden my heart started beating rapidly, my mouth was dry and I experienced an extreme level of fear. I felt like I couldnt catch my breath. The anxiety attack symptoms caused the most frightening day of my life."

According to Barry the fear is born out of a worry that causes the sufferer to think "I cant cope with this, this is too much. I cant handle this situation."

Medications that might cause or mimic anxiety attack symptoms include bronchodilators such as ephedrine, certain weight loss drugs and methylphenidate.

Does this sound like anxiety and depression and do you take the same kind of medications for these problems?

It sounds like depression, but you really need to consult a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Do not go to your family doctor! They are not licensed to diagnose any type of mental illness and are too eager to hand out medications.

Please note that you may only have to take meds for a short period of time and not your whole life.

Anxiety Help - Anti Anxiety Medications & Drugs As Needed?

Anti Anxiety Medications & Drugs As Needed?

Does anybody know of any anti anxiety medication that you can take just as needed?

In response to your question about anti anxiety/panic disorder medications. I understand that you would only like to take these on an as-needed basis, which is good. Some people with extreme cases of panic attacks or generalized anxiety disorder want to be medicated 24/7 which many times leads to addiction and if they go off the medications then they have rebound symptoms which are much worse than the original symptoms that lead them to take the meds in the first place.

Then there are the as-needed type of anti anxiety medications, the most common class being the benzodiazepines which include Xanax (alprazolam), Valium (diazepam), Ativan (lorazepam), and Klonipin (clonazepam).

Anxiety & Depression - Job Discrimination

Can you be discriminated against for an anxiety and depression disorder that has been treated with medicines?

I received a phone call from the company because they want more information about the medicines that I take for anxiety (for panic attacks which then resulted in depression).

I passed the physical exam but the doctor won't sign the paper until I talk to a counselor.
