Anxiety Help - Therapy for Anxiety Disorder

Therapy for Anxiety Disorder

What kinds of therapy are good for anxiety disorder?

It really depends on the root cause of the anxiety disorder, as anxiety can be caused by all sorts of things. For people whose anxiety is purely chemical, pharmacotherapy is usually the way to go, though some do benefit from talk therapies and the like.

For trauma-based anxiety disorder, the best way to treat the anxiety is to process the underlying trauma(s). In dealing with the memories and restructuring cognitive distortions, the anxiety usually disappears as part of the process.

Anxiety Help - What Causes Anxiety?

What Causes Anxiety?

Because of the dynamic impact that anxiety can have on families, many believe that if they can get to the root cause of their anxiety then they will have a better chance of overcoming it.

Some researchers believe that genetics play a role in anxiety. Many sufferers say that they remember their father or mother often seeming "anxious" or "inhibited."

"When you are filling your mind with worrisome thoughts, it is difficult to concentrate on anything else (like finding a solution to your problems.) These worried or negative thoughts are often tied to that little negative person that lives in our head."

Anxiety Treatment for Doctor Visit

I'm 55, female, and when I go to the doctor's, and blood pressure is taken, I get anxiety and it shoots up. As soon as I leave the doctor's office I'm fine. Any help for anxiety treatment?

Deep breathing is a good anxiety relief: counting in for a count of six and out for a count of four - this is a good technique for calming yourself and your heart as it regulates your intake of CO2 and gives you something else to concentrate on.

Rescue Remedy is also fantastic if you need an immediate anxiety treatment - I swear by it in any stressful situation!

Anxiety Disorder or Normal Feelings

How do you determine if you have regular anxieties of everyday life or anxiety disorder?

If your anxiety causes you to panic or stands in the way of you living your life in the way you'd like to for a significant period of time, it is probably anxiety disorder rather than the anxieties that everyone experiences from time to time.

Luckily, problems with anxiety are one of the simplest mental issues to resolve in a relatively short period of time.

Anxiety and depression are two symptoms that can also be due to chronic low blood sugar.

You Don't Have to Be a Slave to Stress and Anxiety

The stress and anxiety rush can serve us well if there is real danger. Stress and anxiety can give us the energy and the ability to take action when needed.

For some people the symptoms of stress and anxiety are so chronic and severe that they are a constant state of fear.

For people with chronic stress and anxiety the difficulty comes in learning to tone down the automatic response. They need to learn to take a realistic assessment of the perceived danger and learn to determine the real likelihood of the threat.
