Is this Social Anxiety Disorder?
I don't know if social anxiety disorder is the term for it. But I think from to time it does happen to many of us.
Take a break. Try to get the most of each visit so you don't have to go everyday. Plan ahead. Have a list. Schedule for less hectic times (crowds and long lines) of the day.
If it is giving you physical stress or anxiety, please see your doctor and get a referral from them for stress management counseling.

Anxiety Attacks from Dental Visits
I get anxiety attacks when visiting the dentist and it feels like my chest is squished. Do you have any tips to relieve the anxiety?
Yes, phone ahead if you can or have someone do it for you and explain that you get anxiety attacks.
Also request they give you nitrous; it can help a lot as well if they have it. If they don't, consider switching to someone who does.

Separation Anxiety Torments Children and Their Parents
Five-year old Jessica seemed relatively calm about her first day in kindergarten and her parents had no reason to suspect that separation anxiety would be a problem. She smiled sweetly as her father snapped her picture while she was getting into the car in her shiny new shoes with her hair in pigtails and a pink Dora the Explorer backpack in her arms.
A few minutes later the same little girl was standing at the door to her new classroom, crying hysterically, screaming, clutching the hem of her mother's skirt and begging not to be left alone in her new surroundings.
Not wanting to go to school can occur anytime but it is most common in children 5-7 and 11-14, times when children are dealing with the new challenges of elementary school and middle school.

Anxiety Disorder and Disability
I would like to know if anyone else suffers from anxiety disorder and if it is severe enough for you not to work.
Im on three different medication for it and Ambien CR just to sleep at night. I never go out except to get groceries or to my parents home. I do not socialize. I do drive but I try to only do that when I know it is not high peak times for others or I take a longer route.
I believe I should apply for disability. The anxiety medications Im currently on seem to keep me calmer but only at home or my parents home. I have had two anxiety attacks while shopping just recently.

Panic Attacks about Turning 18
I'm 17 but I will be 18 in December. Every time I turn around I hear "You're going to be 18 soon, do this, that and the other thing" and I'm like "Whoa, I wasn't doing that 6 months ago, you didn't teach me how to do that and now I'm supposed to figure it out for myself."
I'm the baby in the family and everything was always done for me but now people are suddenly telling me I have to do these things for myself. It's freaking me out;
Im literally having panic attacks thinking about it.

Muscle Clenching from Stress and Anxiety
Is muscle clenching part of anxiety? I find myself clenching my muscles at times throughout the day, even if I am not having anxious thoughts.
I also stop breathing at times (for only a few moments) and realize this and take a breath, or I clench my fists around things when Im holding them.
It sounds like you could be suffering from stress and anxiety.

"Everything I read about the Clonazepam anxiety medication said that Clonazapam is used to treat seizure disorders and anxiety panic attacks. I had never had a seizure in my life so I couldnt understand why this would be a good choice for me. I asked my doctor why he picked this particular medication."
Mikes doctor explained to him that Clonazepam belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines, which act, on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming effect. This calming effect can be very helpful in controlling panic attacks.
While some people have reservations about using medication to treat anxiety, there are millions of Americans who could not function in their daily lives without the assistance of medication.

How to Alleviate Anxiety Attacks?
I have only had four anxiety attacks in my entire life but they are horrible. My body goes into shock and I usually throw up. I can't walk or stand and Im dizzy. After I throw up I am okay again. Usually there is 3-5 minutes from point of impact to effects.
I tried to sit still, go outside, think of pleasing things; nothing works. I am thoroughly convinced it's entirely mental because three out of four of my attacks are dental related. I'm not interested in any pills.
What can I do to alleviate this before it's critical? What helps you?

My Lhasa/Shih-tzu mixed pup has turned a year old and still has separation anxiety.
I think he sleeps with one eye open because if I get up to do anything, such as wash clothes, he immediately wakes up and starts to bark again. He is like a child not wanting to be left at daycare. How can I stop his separation anxiety and make him be more independent?
Do you know what started this separation anxiety?

Social Anxiety Disorder - Fair Diagnosis
There is a woman who has very few friends; in fact, she has only one. She has never had much of a social life and never could relate very easily to others. This only bothers her occasionally. She doesn't seek out friendships, but she doesn't shun them, either. She's fairly normal and converses fine with people, but she rarely comes across people who have the same interests, etc. that she does. Most of the time, it's other people who shun her.
One day, a doctor tells her she has Social Anxiety Disorder and suggests she seek counseling to determine why she can't make friends easily. Does this seem like a fair diagnosis? Why? Should she really start taking pills and seeking therapy for being happy with herself and having people shun her?
If she is locking herself up in her home, scared to even go do simple things like grocery shop, get gas in the car, or has this serious need to get home whenever out in public, then she does have social anxiety disorder.

Anxiety Attacks - Military Discharge
Will my anxiety attacks cause me to be discharged from military service?
I do believe it is possible to stay in the army with anxiety attacks depending on what your MOS or CMF is.
However, if you are a supply specialist, or a quartermaster or something of that nature, you may be able to get a waiver for your anxiety attacks.

How do I avoid speech anxiety when speaking in front of a class?
The way I avoid speech anxiety is to be convinced about what I am going to say.
If I am just called to speak spontaneously, I think more about my ideas and getting the class to understand them than about me.
